Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullJames Rollins

James Rollins’ second book I read was “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull“. As for James Rollins, he is best known for writing action-adventure/thriller, mystery, and techno-thriller novels. The story begins with Indiana Jones and his accomplice being abducted by a group of Russian soldiers while excavating in Peru. Its leader, Colonel Irina Spalko who was  a beautiful, intelligent but fierce warrior in KGB. What is their purpose? What they want was, to find a mysterious Crystal Skull and they believed that it will provide the finder with extensive amounts of knowledge about the universe using Indiana. There Indiana somehow survived, but the Russians would not have stopped chasing him. It turned out to be a big turning point in his life when he unexpectedly met 19-year-old Matt one day. From then on, the whole story unfolds as an action adventure.

The author has managed to keep the reader hooked on the story by allowing the story to flow continuously as a heroic adventure. It is also commendable that in many places humorous dialogues have been added to keep the story from being monotonous. One important feature is that the main character is highlighted throughout the story, guiding the other characters.

But in some places the story felt monotonous due to its length. Not without instances where at some point the story felt a little too detailed. On the whole, James’ book, The Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, is one of his most successful works. Happily, a film has also been made based on this story.
